Construction Project

Construction Progress

Since breaking ground in May, steady progress has been made towards the construction of the new library on Maple Avenue. Site grading has been completed and hundreds of trucks' worth of dirt have been removed. The excavation crew has dug and poured footings for the new building.

We encountered the discovery of an underground storage tank (UST) on the northeastern section of the property, which is presumed to have been part of a long-ago decommissioned heating system for the building that occupied the site originally. In order to properly remove this tank and ensure the ground around it was not contaminated, an environmental company has been engaged to coordinate the excavation of the UST, evaluate it, test the soil, and remediate the soil if needed. While this is taking place, construction crews will continue to prepare for the foundation throughout the rest of the site.

New Library Building Plan

Tuesday, November 5, 2024 a majority of Roselle Public Library District residents voted "yes" to the bond referendum, allowing the District to move forward with plans to construct a new library at 233 E.
