New Library Construction Continues
About Blog Post
Over at the construction site, water and sewer connections have been completed and masonry mobilization is well underway, starting with the elevator tower and then moving on to the staircases, one to the west and one to the east on the site.
Masonry work will continue throughout the first half of the month and underground plumbing and electrical work will begin as well.
In mid or late August we are expecting ComEd out to the site to remove a power pole at the corner of Pine Avenue and Rush Street, so lines on that pole can be buried. This will require modifications to a few connecting poles as well. There may be interruptions to services in the areas as this work is done.
Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site

To commemorate our construction project, the Library is giving away copies of Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker. These we be available when we are at the French Market on August 13 and 27, and September 3 and 10; and also at our front desk - while supplies last.
The new library building is expected to be completed by Fall of 2027.
