The Roselle Public Library District Board of Trustees is excited to announce that construction will soon begin on the new library building at 233 E. Maple Avenue, in Roselle. Building contracts were approved at the March Board Meeting and the Library has been working through the permit process and finalizing the land swap arrangement with the Village over the last several weeks.

The community is invited to attend a brief groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site on Friday, May 1st at 4:00 p.m. to memorialize the start of the Roselle Public Library's next chapter.

On reaching this milestone, Len Baumgart, President of the Board of Trustees said, "This groundbreaking is a direct result of the commitment of the community and their vision for the future. We are proud to deliver a facility that is truly fit for purpose for future generations, serving as a modern hub for technology, learning, and community connection."

The start of this project marks a year and half since the voters of the district approved the issuance of construction bonds in November 2024. The building design process was led by Product Architecture + Design and the construction phase is being managed by SMC Construction Services.

"The process leading up to the start of construction has been a significant group effort," shared Executive Director Samantha Johnson. "We invited community input last summer, and library staff and trustees have worked closely with our design team to finalize the look and layout of the new library and grounds. I'm excited to reach the point where we are ready to bring this design to life."

The project is expected to be completed by Fall of 2027.
