Apply for a card
Residents can apply online for a temporary library card number that can be used immediately to access the Library's online resources and databases. Temporary library card numbers expire in seven days and cannot be renewed. Come in to the Library within seven days to obtain a permanent library card.
A resident library card in good standing will not expire unless you move to another community. A library card is to be presented when checking out material.
Proof of identity and residency (valid photo ID with current address) are required at time of application. If your ID has not been updated with your new address, please present a utility bill, bank statement, lease agreement, or other formal communication you've received indicating your new address. A parent or guardian must sign a responsibility statement for minors under 18 years of age.
If a library card is lost or stolen, report it to the Library immediately. To reinstate a lost or stolen library card, valid photo ID is also required and a replacement fee may apply.
Roselle Library cards in good standing are welcome at most libraries in the state of Illinois.
For more information, please refer to the Library's policies related to Library cards and Circulation.
Loan Periods
Most items can be borrowed for three weeks.
- 1-week loans include: New DVDs
- Renewals: Items not on reserve can be renewed for the length of the original check out period, with a limit of two renewals per item.
- Reserves: Items owned by the Library but currently not available may be placed on hold by Library cardholders in person, over the phone, or via the Internet.
Call (630)529-1641 ext. 222 for help with renewals and/or reserves.
A drive-up book return is located in the Elm Court island across from the Library's main entrance; another book return is located on the wall to the right of the main entrance doors. These may be used 24 hours a day for all materials.
Overdue Materials & Replacement Fees
As of July 1, 2020 the Roselle Public Library District has eliminated overdue fines. We would like both our patrons and materials to return. Although there are no longer late fees, materials categorized as lost or damaged will be billed a replacement cost for each item.
Check Your Library Record
All you need is your library card number and a PIN to check which items you have out and when they are due, to renew items, to check whether or not you owe any late fees, and to place holds on items you'd like to borrow. By default, your PIN is the last four digits of the phone number we have on file for you, although you may customize it yourself or ask us to. Check your account now.
