We continue along our timeline and are now in the zoning review process, working with Village staff who will oversee the reviews of the plans for the new library. As we progress, a hearing in front of the Planning and Zoning Commission will be scheduled. We are also in contact with ComEd on some logistics related to relocating some utilities in and around the site. As of this update, we still expect to bid the project out in January 2026 and then break ground in Spring 2026.

The Library District has not yet taken ownership of the property at 233 E. Maple, but we have been working with the Village of Roselle to get our property transfer agreement finalized and executed.

At the end of September, a grant application was submitted to a state program that funds outdoor recreational projects to provide additional funding for the Library's planned garden and outdoor amenities. Our team has also been in contact with ComEd about our eligibility for incentives through their program for new public building construction. As other grant and incentive opportunities become available we will pursue them in order to add as much additional investment to our new library project as possible.

Earlier this fall we launched a survey to ask for community feedback on objects we can place inside a time capsule to be buried at our future location. You can make your suggestions here through the end of October: bit.ly/RPLD_Time_Capsule .
