Patron Services Assistant

Part Time (22 Hours / Week)
FLSA Non-Exempt Status


Do you like working with people? The Roselle Public Library District is seeking an energetic Patron Services Assistant to work the front desk at the Library.

This Position Will Involve:

  • Working directly with the public as a first point of contact;
  • Handling cash and credit card transactions;
  • Communicating with patrons in-person, over phone and email;
  • Registering new library card accounts;
  • Utilizing SirsiDynix Workflows circulation software for checking items in and out;
  • A varied schedule including daytime, evening, and weekend hours; &
  • Must be able to bend, push, and lift materials to perform job duties.

 

Qualifications Include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, LTA or other relevant Associate’s degree preferred;
  • Ability to speak multiple languages a plus, particularly Polish and Spanish;
  • Minimum one year of paid or volunteer library experience, including patron services and other public services experience, and familiarity with integrated library system processes, or two years of relevant experience in a public contact or customer services position.

Salary
This position is a 22-hour week non-exempt position with compensation ranging from $15.53 - $18.31 per hour depending on qualifications and in accordance with internal equity.
 

Benefits
This position is eligible for IMRF retirement benefits, pro-rated holiday pay, and after a short waiting period sick and vacation benefits.

Adult Services Assistant

Part Time (20 Hours Average / Week)
FLSA Non-Exempt Status


The Adult & Teen Services Department is looking for a passionate and proactive Adult Services Assistant to join our department on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will engage well with others, be an organized self-starter, have an optimistic and positive attitude, exercise good judgement, and demonstrate strong communication skills. 

Primary duties will involve creating outstanding experiences for our community by: 

  • Assisting with inter-library loan requests
  • Assisting department staff with reference and reader’s advisory services
  • Creating displays
  • Selecting for assigned collection areas
  • Planning programs and/or providing program support as needed
  • Booking and maintaining display case schedule

Your innovative ideas and insight will be welcomed on our busy Adult & Teen Services team. In addition to departmental duties, this staff member will have the opportunity to participate in professional development.
 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one year of paid or voluntary experience working directly with the public

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • LTA or other relevant Associate’s Degree
  • Polish or Spanish language skills a plus

 

Hours
This position requires availability for daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The expected schedule will look something like:

  • Monday and Tuesday evenings
  • Rotating Fridays
  • Every other weekend

 

Salary
Compensation ranging from $16.53 to $20.66 per hour, depending on qualifications and in accordance with internal equity.
