The Library accepts applications for court-ordered community service hours from residents of the Roselle Public Library District working with the court systems of Cook and DuPage Counties. If approved, a maximum of 12 hours may be allotted per applicant. All requests are subject to availability of projects or tasks to be accomplished, as well as availability of Library staff to train and directly supervise court-ordered volunteers.
The following types of convictions are not eligible for the Library's court-ordered community service volunteer program:
- Personal injury or threat of injury
- Other similar offenses
Pre-approval must be granted by both the Library staff member who will supervise the volunteer and the Executive Director. Volunteers participating in this program are required to adhere to all Library policies and procedures and are expected to conform to their set schedule and time commitment. Non-adherence will result in cancellation of the volunteer's participation.
