Roselle Public Library District

Thank You Volunteers!

April 18 - 24, 2021

President Richard Nixon established National Volunteer Week with an executive order in 1974, as a way to recognize and celebrate the efforts of volunteers. Every sitting U.S. president since Nixon has issued a proclamation during National Volunteer Week (as have many U.S. mayors and governors). Since then, the original emphasis on celebration has widened; the week has become a nationwide effort to urge people to get out and volunteer in their communities. Every April, libraries, charities, hospitals, and communities recognize volunteers and foster a culture of service.

Thank you to Roselle Public Library District Volunteers over the past year! Your help was extremely appreciated during this challenging year.

Even with the restrictions required due to the ongoing pandemic, there are still ways you can be of service!

The Library relies on volunteers of to assist with a variety of projects, programs, and events throughout the year. Applications are accepted year-round. Some examples of work for volunteers include program and event assistance, building/grounds maintenance, and help with special projects.

The Library also accepts requests for Court-Ordered Community Service hours, on a limited basis.

To apply, complete the Volunteer Application and submit it to the Library in-person or by email.
If you are a teen in need of service hours for school or church, or for any reason, check out the VolunTeen program.

This is an excellent way to complete service hours or boost a college resume for students in high school. VolunTeens assist with projects and programs in the Youth Services Department.

To become a VolunTeen, fill out the VolunTeen Application with the parental consent form. Turn in completed applications to the Adult & Teen Services Desk in person or by email.
